When University of Aarhus, Institute of Business and Technology was established in 1995, a new basic structure was needed to avoid the inflexibility of the traditional grouping in subject areas. The idea behind AU-IBT's organisational structure is to take into account the possibility of further development and innovation, which is in keeping with the fundamental idea to create a dynamic educational institution focusing on interaction across professional boundaries and on being at the leading edge of developments.

A holistic view
University of Aarhus, Institute of Business and Technology was established in 1995 as a new and interesting educational institution with a holistic view on business economics, business languages and communication, and engineering. It is the only institution in Denmark which teaches both business and engineering subjects.
